Cherokee Nation Proceed Undaunted is an eye-opening and deeply researched account that tells the story of the Cherokee Nation not just as a victim of historical injustice, but as a community that resisted, endured, and sought to rebuild. What I admired about this book is its balance between documenting political betrayal and highlighting internal leadership struggles. It doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths—even calling out Cherokee leaders who compromised their nation’s future for personal gain.

There’s a persistent theme throughout the book: that true governance must be rooted in the will of the people. The story of the missed constitutional opportunity in 2024 feels like a powerful warning. The author writes with clarity and authority, making complex political developments feel accessible.
A minor weakness is that the book sometimes relies heavily on dates and events, which may slow the pace for some readers. But if you care about Indigenous sovereignty or the principles of democratic leadership, this book is a must-read. It is as much a history lesson as it is a call to action.
